Projects
Throughout my time as a Marywood student, a mentee with Food Service Directors working for The Nutrition Group company and the Sports Dietitian at Georgetown University, the Nutrition Performance Team at Northwestern University, and lastly a dietetic intern with the Sports Dietitian at Cornell University, Kendal at Ithaca Senior Living Community, and Guthrie Cortland Medical Center, I have completed several projects. Below are some examples of my past work.
Cornell Football Summer Check-in Presentation
Cornell University
Although I held team talks with men's and women's soccer, women's volleyball, women's rowing, and men's tennis as well as football during my time as the dietetic intern with Cornell University athletics, many of these initial talks revolved around topics hit on in this first presentation of mine. Please view the following slides.

Iron Deficiency in Female Endurance Athletes Presentation
ND-H331
I was also one of three honors students enriching our Sports Nutrition class as a junior and we completed a health education project on any topic that we wanted. I chose iron deficiency because I myself struggled with anemia and many adolescent athletes are unaware of the consequences of low dietary iron.
The Menstrual Cycle for Women in Sports Presentation
Georgetown University
As a student mentee with the Georgetown University Sports Dietitian, I researched and presented a presentation on the menstrual cycle for women in sports. I discussed the latest research on nutritional interventions that may be beneficial in certain phases of the menstrual cycle for athletic performance. It is important to remember research is still limited and these conclusions are not concrete.

Lunar Prodigy Dexa Scan
Georgetown University
As a student mentee with the Georgetown University Sports Dietitian, I analyzed a dexa scan for one of their athletes. I was able to answer potential questions an athlete might ask about their own dexa scan, including:
-
How much fat do I need to lose to get to ___% body fat?
-
How many calories should I eat per day? and
-
What does my bone mineral density mean?

During my time at Northwestern, I was able to see a dexa scan in person and learn how to calibrate it. Unfortunately, I was not able to observe or operate the dexa myself for use in the athletes.

Rethink Your Drink Nutrition Education Presentation
Lakeland School District
At Lakeland School District, under supervision of The Nutrition Group's Food Service Director Dietitian, I conducted a nutrition education presentation. I spoke with a high school class about rethinking their drink and about too much added sugar in their diets.
How to Fuel as a Collegiate Athlete Presentation
Georgetown University
As a student mentee with the Georgetown University Sports Dietitian, I created a presentation on fueling strategies and grocery shopping tips for female D1 rowers. I discussed how to determine your individual energy needs, meal planning, and performance plates for the athlete's better understanding of adequately fueling themselves as student-athletes.
Body Positivity
Presentation
Georgetown University
As a student mentee with the Georgetown University Sports Dietitian, I created a presentation on the body positivity movement for athletes. I discussed the difference between body positivity, body neutrality, and body negativity. I also suggest ways to help teammates who may struggle with their body image.

Suplementos En El Fútbol Presentation
SPAN-H275
In my conversational Spanish class, we presented an article of our choosing to the class. I used Gatorade's Sports Science Institute website to find a Spanish sports nutrition infographic to talk about. I explained supplement use in soccer players, including the benefits, popular supplements in the market, and my thoughts on supplement use.
El Plato Saludable Para Diabéticos Presentation
Guatemala Medical Mission
While serving in Guatemala, our interdisciplinary team created and presented to the Guatemalan Health Promoters on healthy plates for diabetic patients. We discussed what diabetes is, basic nutrition skills, and understanding. We conducted a hands-on learning activity with the group to work together and create a diabetes-friendly plate for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Food Demo for Women's Cross Country
Northwestern University
At Northwestern University, I aided the head women's cross country Dietitian with a food demo presentation. This infographic focused on microwave, slow cooker, and air fryer meals. The ingredients were often used in multiple recipes. This infographic showed the athletes easy meals they can make on the weekends or when they are on their own and unable to get dining hall food. Recipes focused on iron-rich foods to combat female endurance athletes being at a greater risk for iron deficiency.
Supplement Reviews
Northwestern University
At Northwestern University, I researched supplements that athletes on campus were currently taking. This research was necessary in educating the athletes on what they were consuming and to inform them of the risk as a NCAA Division I athlete. The supplement review included the effects of specific ingredients, importance of third-party testing, and nutrition advice. This information is given to the athlete, however it is the athlete's responsibility to decide whether to continue taking the supplement or not.
