Meet Taylor Seprosky, MS, RD, LD!

Hi! I am Taylor Seprosky, a Sports Dietitian and Nutrition Intern at the U.S. Naval Academy. I was a graduate in Sports and Human Performance Nutrition and an undergraduate student in Nutrition and Dietetics with a focus in Spanish at Marywood University. I am a Scranton, Pennsylvania local and have a close-knit support system here. Who I am today is an accumulation of several experiences over time and many interactions that have contributed to my personal growth over the past years. I am me, but also a combination of everyone I have ever connected with. Some of my deepest core values include loyalty, honesty, kindness, respect, determination, and teamwork, all of which greatly contribute to my unwavering commitment to achieving my personal and professional purpose in life: to share my knowledge and work with individuals who struggle with their eating habits to boost overall health and their relationship with food.

My career path has been steadfast in becoming a Sports Dietitian since high school. This goal grew out of my personal experiences dealing with low energy availability and iron deficiency when I was a teenager. It surprised me how little nutrition knowledge my coaches, teammates, friends, family members, and even physicians had. As a young athlete, decreasing competitive performance can be attributed to a lack of mental strength, willpower, nerves, or failed training. Never once when I experienced slower times as a top runner was improper fueling and low body weight a possibility. No one knew any better, and I wanted to change that. My goal is to help educate athletes on properly fueling themselves and teach that many problems with performance and negative mentality surrounding training adaptations can be improved through diet alone. With my education and background, I hope to aid individuals going through the same obstacles I once encountered.

I have been in athletics my entire life. From soccer, softball, and basketball when I was younger, to track and cross country in high school and college. I understand the athletic demands of athletes on both an educational and personal level. Nutrition education is far and few between and varies greatly amongst different athletes. I hope to share my sports nutrition for performance knowledge with both Olympic and football sports athletes to make sure they are properly fueling themselves and feeling great during competitions and training as well.

"I enjoy Sports Nutrition because my job is to tell athletes to eat MORE, rather than less."

                                                      - Taylor Seprosky
