Legislative/Government Survey

For the legislative survey, I chose the area of Lackawanna County in Pennsylvania and this is where I was born and raised.

Rep. Cartwright Email

I contacted Representative Cartwright of Pennsylvania's 8th congressional district to discuss the Medical Nutrition Therapy Act Bill (HR6407) and ask for support.

Representative Matt Cartwright responded to my email about the Medical Nutrition Therapy Act Bill (HR6407) on July 29th.

Rep. Fitzpatrick Meeting

I met with a member of Representative Fitzpatrick's staff alongside PAND discussing the MNT Act Bill. This meeting took place on July 18th @2:00 PM.

Academy Action Alert

I submitted the Academy's Action Alert to increase access to Medical Nutrition Therapy by asking for the support of Congress Senators, Bob Casey and John Fetterman.

Senator Bob Casey Response

Senator Bob Casey Jr. responded to the Academy Action Alert about the Medical Nutrition Therapy Act (S. 3297) on August 2nd.

Outcome Evaluation Form

I completed an evaluation plan summary before and after my HPP. This summary includes the outcome indicators I used to determine the success of my HPP as well as results of my program.

Health-Related Report / BRFSS

I completed a health-related report on the prevalence of dehydration and under fueling/low energy availability in Tompkins County and Division I football players at Cornell University using data from the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS).

Educational Materials 

I created a PowerPoint presentation titled "Ways to Kickstart your Season" focusing on hydration and fueling strategies, and on supplement testing for my HPP. The infographic is an Electrolyte Comparison Chart that compares different brands of electrolyte packets, drinks, and tablets.

SMOG Evaluation

I evaluated my PowerPoint presentation "Ways to Kickstart your Season" using the SMOG readability formula to make sure the slides were appropriate for an 8th-grade reading level.

Lesson Plan

I created a lesson plan for my Cornell Football Varsity Athlete Presentation "Kickstarting your Season." This plan includes an outline and presentation notes with a schedule for time.

Motivational Interviewing

My preceptor, Allyssa, filled out an evaluation form on my adeptness at motivational interviewing during a nutrition counseling 1on1 session with a student-athlete.
